Workshops
Workshops are offered throughout the year. This is an opportunity to explore different types of interests that aren't offered in our normal curriculum. Examples of previous workshops are Web Design, Yoga, Salsa Dance, Financial Planning, Soccer, Rock Climbing, Art Museum tours and Knitting. Staff, students and parents are welcome to teach a workshop of their passion.
Workshop Fridays run from 8:30am to 12:30pm. They are early dismissal days for students. Staff are involved in professional development in the afternoons.
A Workshop Committee is being formed in September to plan the Workshop Fridays. This committee will be comprised of students, staff and parents. The first workshop is scheduled for October 31st. Other workshop dates include the following:
Dec. 19, Jan 30, Feb 27 and March 27.
I encourage you to get involved to make Workshop Fridays a success. And yes, attendance is required.
Tutorial
On Tuesday through Thursday, we offer a tutorial time from 8:30am - 9:30am. Teachers are in their rooms and available to help with homework, to clarify a lesson, to assist with projects and to meet with individual students. In addition, they are clubs and other activities going on during this time. It is a way for students to get that extra help they need before the classes begin for the day. If your student needs additional academic support, this is an opportunity that should not be overlooked. We will also offer specialized tutoring for students needing extra support to pass the WASL which is required for graduation.
